Languages

The research proposal/paper may be prepared in either Arabic or English.

Guidelines of the Research Proposal

  • The research paper must be original and must not have been previously published in a scientific journal or submitted or presented at a previous conference or symposium.
  • The research proposal should be submitted in a Microsoft Word format, in two pages at most, including the following elements:
  • Research Title
  • Author(s) details (name, degree, occupation, entity, email, mobile number)
  • 3-5 keywords
  • Significance of the research topic and its main objectives
  • The research problem expressed in the form of questions/hypotheses
  • Methodology or research method followed and data used
  • Expected research findings and their importance for the decision-maker
  • The most relevant theme for the research topic from the conference themes announced in this call
  • The researcher shall attach with the research proposal his/her CV and a sample of one of his/her previous works (i.e., a published research paper, a working paper;  a chapter in a book, a report or a thesis).

 

Guidelines of the Research Paper

  • If the research proposal is accepted, the research paper should be submitted, in a Microsoft Word format, including the following elements:
  • Author(s) details (name, degree, occupation, entity, email, mobile number)
  • Abstract of 200 words at most
  • 3-5 keywords
  • Introduction, reflecting the added value of the research
  • Relevant literature review (i.e., both theoretical and empirical)
  • Data sources and methodology utilized
  • Analysis of data and information and interpretation and discussion of research findings
  • Conclusion and policy implications
  • Bibliography
  • Appendices (if any)
  • The maximum number of words in the research paper is 10,000 words, including the list of references, other than appendices.
  • For research in English, Times New Roman font, size 12, with line spacing 1.5 is used.
  • The American Psychological Association (APA) method is followed in citation (both in text and in the references list).
  • Numbering of headings and subheadings using the method: 1., 2., 3., ... (for headlines), 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, ... , for the first level of subheadings.

 

 

Conference Book

  • Accepted papers will be published in a book issued by the Institute of National Planning after being revised based on the remarks/comments of the Scientific Committee and the discussions of the conference participants.

Notes

  • The scientific committee of the conference may, within certain limits, consider topics other than those referred to within the themes of the conference, as long as they relate to the general theme of the conference and have a clear scientific significance or contribution.
  • There are no specific restrictions on the selection of the country or sample of countries in question. However, research applied to the Arab region and the Middle East has a comparative advantage.
